• Spy shooters have snapped the facelifted Skoda Kodiaq.
  • Crossover sports an updated front end with new intake.
  • Performance-focused RS variant could get a new engine.

Skoda has introduced a slew of new and updated electric vehicles as of late including the entry-level Epiq. However, the Czech brand hasn’t forgotten about their ICE-powered lineup as spy photographers recently snapped the facelifted Kodiaq.

Spied undergoing testing in the Alps, the updated model is instantly recognizable but adopts a new front bumper. Its design is hidden by camouflage, but we can see an all-new lower air intake that trades honeycomb mesh for new horizontal accents.

Designers also appear to have revamped the grille and vertical air curtains. We can also see a new lower lip, which now appears thicker.

Changes to the rear end are harder to make out, but we can likely expect a new bumper and updated taillights.

Spy photographers didn’t get a look inside, although we wouldn’t be surprised to find an updated infotainment system and improved driver assistance systems. Designers could also introduce more sustainable materials.

The current Kodiaq is offered with an assortment of engines including a turbocharged 1.5-liter TSI with 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque. It’s joined by 2.0-liter TSIs developing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 262 hp (195 kW / 265 PS).

Customers can also get 2.0-liter TDIs pumping out 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS). There’s also a 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.5-liter TSI engine with an electric motor and a 25.7 kWh battery pack.

While many of these will likely carryover, there’s speculation the Kodiaq RS could receive a new engine that produces over 300 horsepower. The change is said to be emissions-related, but only time will tell what happens.
