- GMA’s new T.33 will be sold in coupe and convertible guises.
- Powering the car is Cosworth’s high-revving 3.9-liter N/A V12.
- The T.33 pumps out 606 hp and 333 lb-ft (451 Nm) of torque.
More than four years after its debut, Gordon Murray Automotive’s second road-going model is still deep in development. The T.33 is edging closer to customer deliveries, and recent footage shows three prototypes undergoing cold-weather testing near the Arctic Circle.
The new car follows the same philosophy that shaped the T.50, Gordon Murray’s modern reinterpretation of the McLaren F1. Under the rear deck sits Cosworth’s 3.9-liter naturally aspirated V12. Owners will likely never venture into the snow with their supercars, but testing in extreme winter conditions will help GMA ensure the T.33 can survive whatever owners decide to throw at it.

In this clip, the three T.33s can be seen driving in tandem, uncamouflaged, with a team of engineers testing them. As the supercar is rear-wheel drive, it does have some difficulty putting its power to the ground on the snow, even with winter tires. This video also provides us with our first opportunity to see the deployable rear wing in action. It’s relatively simple and consists of a small flap that can be raised or lowered as necessary.
GMA has built the T.33 around a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque, complete with double wishbone suspension at all four corners. It is also equipped with high-performance carbon ceramic brakes from Brembo. Unlike the T.50, which does without power steering, the T.33 will have hydraulically-assisted power steering.
Flagship Power
When the car was first announced, GMArevealed that the Cosworth engine had been detuned from the T.50’s 654 hp and 344 lb-ft (467 Nm) to 606 hp and 333 lb-ft (451 Nm). The redline was also lowered slightly to 11,100 rpm.
Those figures may not appear extreme on paper, but the T.33 is expected to weigh less than 2,420 lbs (1,100 kg), which should make it more than quick enough to keep pace with significantly more powerful rivals.
Global production of the T.33 Coupe will be limited to just 100 units, with GMA also committing to building a further 100 Spider variants. Importantly, the T.33 has been homologated for the US, while a slightly more track-focused T.33 S variant is also in the works.
