- The BMW 7-Series is stripping ahead of its debut next month.
- Flagship sedan adopts a new front end and an updated interior.
- We can also expect upgraded gas and electric powertrains.
BMW is gearing up to introduce the facelifted 7-Series at Auto China next month and the company recently teased the flagship sedan and confirmed it’s getting some Neue Klasse tech. Since then, a couple of purported pictures of the car have surfaced online.
While it pays to be skeptical in the days of AI, those images seem increasingly legitimate based on spy photos of a less disguised prototype. As you can see, the luxury sedan will adopt an all-new front end with a revised grille that trades vertical lines for horizontal ones.

The slender daytime running lights look familiar, but they’re now wider and appear to have updated graphics. More notably, there are smaller, squared off headlights which are integrated into an aggressive intake. This helps to give the 7-Series a sportier and more expressive appearance.
The central intake has also been updated as there’s a shorter horizontal bar as well as a new outer trapezoidal shape. They’re joined by a flatter and more pronounced splitter.

Moving further back, we can see what appears to be streamlined side skirts. There doesn’t appear to be any other changes, but we wouldn’t be surprised to find updated wheels.
Lastly, the rear end appears pretty evolutionary but there’s bulky camouflage hiding the shape of the redesigned bumper. We can also see new taillight graphics, which essentially flip the red and clear segments.

The 7-Series’ cabin has been notoriously camera shy, but spy photographers managed to catch a glimpse of the updated interior. It’s covered by black cloth, but there’s no hiding the new pillar-to-pillar Panoramic iDrive display located at the base of the windshield.
That isn’t the only change as we can get a glimpse of a new infotainment system, which presumably spans 17.9 inches. There isn’t much else to see, but these changes will require a new dashboard and a revamped steering wheel.

An assortment of upgraded powertrains are expected including a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder that could produce 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS) and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque. Furthermore, the fully electric i7 is rumored to adopt a new battery and it could be joined by more efficient motors.
We can expect to learn more in the coming weeks as Auto China kicks off on April 24.
