Suzuki Fronx Hybrid launched in Malaysia – 1.5L four-cylinder, ADAS, CBU Indonesia; RM148k on-the-road

Naza Eastern Motors has now launched the Suzuki Fronx Hybrid in Malaysia, with a sole mild-hybrid powertrain priced from RM147,888 on-the-road without insurance.

Measuring 3,995 mm long, 1,765 mm wide and 1,550 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,520 mm, the Suzuki Fronx Hybrid for the Malaysian market is fully imported (CBU) from Indonesia, is a sibling to the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor that is sold in markets such as Japan and South Africa. The exterior dimensions of the Fronx make it 70 mm shorter, but 55 mm wider than the Perodua Ativa.

Powering the Fronx Hybrid is the K15C 1.5 litre inline-four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine with an integrated starter-generator (ISG) that outputs 103 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm, sending drive to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles.

Combined with a lithium-ion hybrid battery and its 37 litre fuel tank, the Fronx Hybrid is capable of a WLTP-rated range of over 700 km, says Suzuki.

Suspension for the Fronx Hybrid is by MacPherson struts in front, and a torsion beam configuration at the rear, and offers 170 mm of ground clearance; rolling stock is a set of 16-inch alloys shod in 195/60R16 tyres. Meanwhile, brakes are by ventilated discs in front, and drum brakes at the rear. Exterior equipment includes LED headlamps with LED DRLs with high beam assist, LED tail lamps, with front, side and rear skid plate trim.

Inside, the Fronx Hybrid for Malaysia gets a two-tone fabric and synthetic leather upholstery, tilt and reach adjustment for the steering column, and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles. Luggage capacity is 308 litres with the rear seats in place, the latter also offering 60:40 split-folding. Infotainment is by a nine-inch touchscreen head unit supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while also including wireless device charging.

The Fronx Hybrid for Malaysia gets a suite of ADAS features as standard, including adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, lane change assist, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, lane keep assist and vehicle sway warning.

Further assistance functions include high beam assist and hill hold control. Also on are electronic stability control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, ISOFIX child seat anchor points on the two outer rear seats, and six airbags. Tested in September this year, the Suzuki Fronx received a five-star rating from the ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries).

For a limited period, confirmed bookings of the Suzuki Fronx Hybrid in Malaysia made by December 31, 2025 are offered with either a RM4,000 rebate, or a Suzuki genuine accessories package comprised of a roof rack, roof basket and door visors, or three years’ free servicing.

The Suzuki Fronx Hybrid is sold in Malaysia with a three-year, 100,000 km overall warranty and a five-year, 100,000 km hybrid battery warranty. A total of seven exterior colour choices are offered; Pearl Mellow Deep Red, Cool Black, Pearl Snow White, Magma Gray, joined by two-tone choices Rising Orange, Ice Grayish Blue and Savanna Ivory, each of these three paired with a contrasting black roof finish.
