• Mercedes-AMG is working on a facelifted GT coupe.
  • Early prototype spotted with a revised front end.
  • The updated model is expected to debut next year.

Mercedes-AMG has been teasing the redesigned GT 4-Door for what feels like an eternity, but spy photographers have snapped the first photos of the facelifted coupe. It’s expected to arrive next year and usher in an assortment of changes.

While testing is just getting underway, we can see the sports car has been equipped with a new front bumper and temporary headlights. The latter appear to have a flatter bottom and will likely be star-infused on the production model.

Further below, the model appears to have a lightly revised grille with a more uniform oval shape. Designers also appear to have fine-tuned the lower intake, which has more in common with the SL.

The rest of the car largely carries over, but we can expect an assortment of changes on the road-going model. This will presumably include a new rear bumper, updated taillights, and revised wheels.

Spy photographers didn’t get a good look inside, but we can expect the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System, which debuted on the redesigned CLA. It’s infused with artificial intelligence as it includes Google Gemini as well as an MBUX Virtual Assistant.

Speaking of the infotainment system, it’s covered by a black cloth and flanked by two familiar air vents. This suggests the model won’t follow in the footsteps of the facelifted S-Class, which ditched its portrait-style display.

Mercedes-AMG Is Giving Its Flagship Coupe A New Face

Since this prototype has four circular exhaust tips, we’re looking at the entry-level GT 43. It currently starts at $106,500 and features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 416 hp (310 kW / 422 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission, which enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds.

It remains unclear if the engine will receive a performance boost, but we can expect an expansive GT lineup that includes a twin-turbo V8 and a plug-in hybrid variant. There should also be a new Black Series, which was previewed by the Concept AMG GT Track Sport.
