• The Lexus LFR has been spied with three different aero configurations.
  • The hybridized LFA successor is expected to have around 900 hp.
  • A debut could come later this year, alongside a six figure price tag.

The Lexus LFR is inching closer to production and it was recently previewed by the Sport Concept at Monterey Car Week. We’re now getting a better look at the production model as three different variants have been spied undergoing testing on the Nürburgring.

Caught being benchmarked against a Mercedes-AMG GT-R and GT Black Series, the LFR prototypes look pretty similar at first glance. However, one of the models is a plain Jane version that is aimed at the street.

We can also see a track-focused variant, which has a carbon fiber front lip, canards, and a sizable rear wing. They appear to be joined by unique vents above the front wheels.

Sitting between the two extremes is a tamer variant, which has a shorter rear wing. This version also eschews the front lip and has fewer canards.

While the details vary, the LFR looks like a mashup of the LFA and Sport Concept. As you can see, the car features an aggressive front fascia with three large intakes as well as ‘fangs’ in the center. They’re joined by a ram air hood as well as slender headlights.

Moving further back, there are large front fender vents and chunky side skirts. The model also has rear scoops and lightweight wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system. We can also see a pronounced rear spoiler, a four-tailpipe exhaust system, and a ventilated rear fascia.

The interior has a minimalist design with supportive sport seats and a freestanding infotainment system. Drivers will also find a dedicated climate control panel as well as toggle-like buttons. We can also expect a minimalist shifter and a digital instrument cluster.

Powertrain details are more elusive, but some hybrid components can apparently be seen through the rear window. They’re rumored to aid a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 producing 720 hp (537 kW / 730 PS). This means the model could potentially have a combined output of around 900 hp (671 kW / 912 PS), although those numbers should be taken with a grain of salt.
