BMW Malaysia has officially launched the all-new 2025 BMW M5 (G90) at the My BMW World showcase — and for many, it’s undoubtedly the highlight of the event. This latest generation marks a historic milestone as the first M5 to feature a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, blending electrified performance with classic M engineering. At its heart is the same hybrid setup found in the high-performance BMW XM.

Priced from RM1,188,800 (on-the-road without insurance) or RM1,247,900 with the extended warranty and service package, the G90 is built on the G60 5 Series platform and signals BMW’s ongoing push for performance, innovation, and sustainability.

Aggressive Looks, Signature M Style

Visually, the M5 G90 commands attention with bold styling cues such as large air intakes, a gloss black illuminated kidney grille, adaptive LED headlights with M Shadowline, and lightweight carbon-fibre elements — including the roof, side mirrors, and rear spoiler. It rides on 20-inch front / 21-inch rear M wheels, with quad exhausts completing the muscular rear profile.

727 PS Hybrid Powertrain, Blistering Performance

Under the hood is a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 paired with an electric motor, together producing a combined 727 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque. Power is channeled through an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox and M xDrive all-wheel drive system.

Despite weighing close to 2.5 tonnes, the M5 sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and hits 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds. The Boost Control in M Track mode delivers instant torque between 30 to 150 km/h, adding to the electrified drama.

An 18.6 kWh battery under the floor enables up to 67 km of pure electric range (WLTP), with an EV top speed of 140 km/h. Charging to full takes about 3 hours 15 minutes using an 11 kW AC charger.

Next-Level Chassis & Driving Modes

Suspension consists of front double wishbones and rear five-link setup, enhanced by M Adaptive Suspension with Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus modes. For the first time ever in an M5, rear-wheel steering improves low-speed agility and high-speed stability.

The configurable M xDrive system supports 4WD, 4WD Sport, and pure 2WD drive modes. Drivers can also personalise steering, suspension, brakes, and hybrid behaviour using the M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel.

Modern Cockpit, Premium Features

Inside, the G90 M5 features the brand’s Curved Display setup — a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, running BMW Operating System 8.5 with M-specific graphics. Other highlights include a flat-bottom M steering wheel, Merino leather upholstery, carbon fibre trim, and a 466-litre boot (slightly smaller than the regular 5 Series due to hybrid components).

Standard tech includes Driving Assistant, Parking Assistant with 3D View, and Reversing Assistant.

Personalisation Options

Customers can choose from exterior colours like Alpine White, Isle of Man Green, and Marina Bay Blue, while interior options include Black, Silverstone, Red, and Kyalami Orange.
